Learn More About Mike Gibbons
Mike Gibbons (Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Medical Massage Practitioner) is a native of Cheltenham, England, where he was an avid rugby and squash player. He attended Bath University majoring in mathematics. In 1993, having worked for a number of years as a computer systems manager, Mike formed his own computer consulting company. After 5½ successful years in the world of computer consulting (and a great deal of stress), Mike made a complete change of direction, and in 1999 entered the massage therapy program at the Alexandar School of Natural Therapeutics in Tacoma, Washington. He graduated with his massage degree in February 2000 and considers it to be “the best career move I have ever made.”
Mike Gibbons has always received great personal satisfaction from helping people. “In the computer world I used to help people do everything faster, and now in the massage world I have the opportunity to help people slow down, relax and heal.”
Mike Gibbons is a calm, compassionate, healing massage therapist who understands what untreated stress and pain can do to your body and psyche. He is always present to listen, and strives to understand the needs and concerns of each patient.
Mike has additional training in the following areas of massage specialty:
Mike Gibbons has also studied and practiced Yang style Tai-Chi and adds this experience to his massage techniques and skills.
Prior to attending massage school, Mike took lessons in the Alexander Technique. The Alexander technique concerns the ability to improve ingrained poor postural habits. The Alexander Technique focuses upon promoting self-observation and awareness in order to make changes; it is, in essence, a component of what is known as neuromuscular re-education. Mike will incorporate aspects of this technique into a massage treatment program where appropriate.
